Roomie July 31, 2010 rigi GREAT PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE, I would have thought it would cost more. I enjoy shopping, lots of room for a gallon of milk ond other items on one side.
Great, spacious bag! July 26, 2010 Aaron Minnick (Columbus, OH United States) This bag is everything I'd hoped it would be. The top compartment easily accommodates binders, folder, etc. while the side panniers take a variety of goodies. I also use the tie-down loops on top to bungee my duffel bag securely. Highly recommended.
Lots of room, but you can't use it very easily... June 18, 2010 phx_kc (Phoenix, AZ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a roomy pannier, but has some annoying quirks. It is very easy to install, simple straps and bungee-cords.
Annoyances with this product:
1) Sides hang very low, and I bang my heel on them frequently
2) Zippers have a mesh covering that hangs a little too low, makes me fish for the zipper
3) There is NO support for any of the pockets (big or small). A bottle of water deforms the fabric in the side pockets, pulling it down, compressing the sides
4) Big top pocket has no support, other than the rack it rests on. Leads to compact and heavy items rolling to the left/right, off the rack support, into the unsupported section, crushing down on the side pockets. Makes side pockets hard to open, and tightens the top pockets over everything else you've got in there...
5) You CANNOT do one-hand opening of any of the zippers. The lack of rigidity in the bag requires two hands
6) Big top pocket can't be used to rest anything on. No support other than your rack makes it hard to stop riding and sit your helmet, water bottle or grocery bag on top without it tipping over
7) The picture is misleading - they must have filled each compartment with perfectly-fit Styrofoam. All compartments hang limp or flat
Positives:
1) Price makes the above problems easier to take. At REI, a pannier that fixes the above annoyances is much, much more expensive
2) Easy to install
3) Nylon is tough - I've carried sharp things in it, never had a problem
Overall - If you don't expect a crush-proof, semi-rigid bag, and don't carry oddly-shaped or heavy items, you'll be fine. Otherwise, pay a little more for a more rigid, easier-to-use product.
Very functional and affordable commuter bike bag May 29, 2010 Sojourn commuter As a bike to work commuter I needed a functional and not too fancy bike bag. The Avenir Metro III Panniers fit the bill just right. It is has plenty of room and compartments for my needs (some books, papers and some times a laptop in a bag, spare clothes, lunch box). If you wear size 11 or larger shoes the back of shoes rub against the bag on commuter (hybrid) bikes (and hence a 4 star). Tried to push the back back as much as possible and it helped a wee bit. However this is not a problem on my touring bike. I have not tested the bag in rain yet.
Floppy mess, poor fit March 24, 2010 Matthew Taylor (el paso, TX USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought these panniers with high hopes. The size was right and the look, in pictures, is nice. But I recommend against them for the reasons below.
The fit of these is extremely poor, especially on the cheap rack also sold on Amazon. These slide around everywhere. The bungee cords are too short to connect to anything, even adjusted to their lowest setting.
The top compartment is a floppy, loose mess, as others have noted. The fabric has no stiffness, and is pulled down by the side bags. Off the bike, there is no way to carry this except the rack loop, which I was afraid would tear off.
I was extremely disappointed in this product and returned it. I have since purchased a trunk bag with zip-out panniers which works much better for my commute to college, and holds nearly as much. Mine is very similar to the Topeak EXP bag sold on Amazon.
