Great product from a great company. July 6, 2010 Lewis J Miller This is my second Topeak trunk bag. The first one lasted me thru college and a couple years after. Finally one of the zippers gave out. So I moved up to this larger bag. It's great, room for everything. I commute to work on my bike with this thing most days. I have a rain cover for it, tho if it's just light rain and you're not out that long the nylon is pretty heavy duty and takes a while to soak thru.
Perfect commuter pack May 9, 2010 Darla Valentina (PLANO, TX, US) I bike to work and pack lunch, extra clothes, netbook, etc. into this bag. It is the perfect bag for my purposes. Great for running those small errands to the grocery store after work and carrying more stuff home from my job as a retail clerk in a bookstore. Eliminates the strain on my back since I no longer need to use a backpack. The track/locking mechanism is a cinch to use and removes quickly and easily. Am using the Topeak Explorer Bike Rack mounted on a Kona hybrid bike.
Tons of space! February 16, 2010 A. KING (Silicon Valley, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bike to work and fit my clothes, lunch, laptop and other sundry items into the pack when I pack everything intelligently. Good construction, good size, plenty of storage compartments. I am glad I made this purchase for sure!
Perfect bike bag! November 16, 2009 Ryan Chidester (Salt Lake City, UT, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This bag is awesome. That basically sums it up.
I use this (along with the Topeak Explorer Bike Rack and Topeak Rain Cover for MTX Trunk Bag EXP and DXP) on my daily commute (on my Specialized Sirrus). In it I put my change of clothes, towel, shoes, toiletries, and still have room for other things (lunch, lock, book, headlight, etc.). The thinner top compartment is perfect for a wallet, phone, and other smaller items.
This bag is made of quality material, so I don't foresee any problems with excessive wear and tear. It fits much more than it initially appears to.
The expandable side panniers are big, but not TOO big. I can comfortably fit a pair of shoes in each side, with extra room leftover.
This is by far the best bag and rack I have seen/used. GET IT!
EDIT UPDATE: It's now Aug. 05, 2010 and my bag which I fill to the brim daily for my commute to work is STILL functioning great with no problems at all. I wish the rain cover they made was higher quality. Other than that this bag is still AMAZING!
Pricey but good quality and design September 25, 2009 Peter Tsai (DC Metro) This is well designed trunk bag. I had others from Nashbar and they do not have the expanding panniers like this one but are significantly less expensive. The price value ratio for the MTX is not as good and I would not have purchased if I had not had an Amazon coupon.
I would have preferred the rear pocket to be enclosed, zipper and not mesh. That would make a good place to put spare tube and tools for flats. The sides are stiff so it will look good on the rack. The penalty is a little more weight.
