bike locking fork August 7, 2010 HECTOR BISENTE (NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA, US) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
i have not installed this in my truck yet, but the product is made of good quality metal
These are fine. I bought 4 of them. June 3, 2010 Hiker Biker (Southeast US) These are fine. I bought 4 of them to build a trailer mounted rack for my pull behind car camping trailer. Plenty strong. Don't be afraid of the low price. Buy and be happy.
Definately worth the money!! May 24, 2010 David S. Kaplan (California, USA) I have had this product for about a month and so far it works great, is easy to use and holds my bike(s) secure. My only issue is, when the mount is closed it is hard to pull it open, because you cannot get your finger between the fixed, and moving part of the clamp (the reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5). To help with this I put a small piece of rope through the hole of the moving part of the clamp so I have something that is easy to grab and pull.
Great Value April 21, 2010 Louis (Kansas City, MO) It's simple: You can't beat these for the price. The stand-off spacer on the lever side gives clearance to operate them, which is a nice touch. The lever and the other stationary bar are much beefier than they appear in the picture. Adjustment before locking down is the key with these. You will know if it's too tight while trying to close the lever. If so, just back off the nut a tad and try again. For $15 each you just can't go wrong. I bought three (two or more qualifies for free shipping. free is good!) and mounted them to a 2x6 which I place in the front of the pickup bed. All for less than a single big name mount cost!
For the nit-pickers out there, my only complaint is there is no smaller flange for the fork to rest on. It rests right on the skewer's "axle." So making minor adjustments has to be done with the bike's weight resting on the axle. That takes away that free-floating feel of the skewer you get on higher end models, and makes final adjustment a bit touchy. But this is a minor issue for those not easily annoyed and looking for a good value.
Works like a charm! April 14, 2010 A. Arcangel (Hawaii) These fork mount clamps work like a charm. I ordered two to transport two bikes in my pickup truck. Got them mounted to a 2x10 piece of wood that was sitting in the backyard. I can throw the whole thing in my truck bed and remove with ease. Once you get the clamp adjusted to your fork, there's no need to adjust it again. It is pretty tight when you loosen it to remove your bike. I have to get it a few love taps to loosen it from the fork once I have the clamp in the open position. Highly recommend this product for the price and quality. I would've loved to spend more on a Yakima clamp but I saved A LOT by going this route.
